Shir Tzedek banned for eight months for an anti-doping rule violation
February 03, 2018Shir Tzedek, a player for Hapoel Beer-Sheva FC, was tested positive for a specified stimulant in accordance with sub-section S6.b of the WADA Prohibited List at the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League play-off match between NK Maribor and Hapoel Beer-Sheva FC played on 22 August 2017.
Following the disciplinary proceedings opened on this basis, on 7 December 2017, the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body banned player Shir Tzedek for eight months. No appeal was lodged by the player or by WADA and therefore the decision is final and binding. UEFA takes this opportunity to re-iterate its commitment in the fight against doping and to confirm its zero-tolerance policy towards doping. UEFA has not publicly disclosed the name of the prohibited substance the player tested positive for.
